Prints That Go Together: Our Top 10 Print Combinations

We’re often asked at Fig1 to to help people put a collection of prints together. We’ve written an Inspiration Guide to help you put your own selection together, however here are a few of our favourite combinations. Most of our prints come in a variety of sizes - it can be a great idea to mix sizes for effect if you’re making a big gallery wall, or a smaller space might look good with a pair or tryptic in the same size. Top Tip: try laying your prints out on the floor before measuring the gaps between them so that they’re even to help you visualise what it will look like on the wall before drilling holes!

Points, Peaks and Mountains: Prints that take you on an Adventure

We like putting prints together by theme, form and colour. This combination of prints all contain pointed shapes, the colour blue and are largely themed around mountains. We like throwing in the love print because we like something that is a bit of a wild card in a gallery. If you love mountains this is a great selection.

Circles and sunbursts: Prints to Spark Joy

I put these two prints together as they have a similar colour yellow running through them and round sunshine shapes but they contrast too with the weight of colour in the Ernst Heikel coral print. Although one print is from the 19th Century and one from the 21st Century, they compliment each other well.

Creepy Crawlies: Prints to Celebrate the Natural World

For fans of small creepy crawly creatures, Liljebergs collection of macro photography bugs and moths is for you. We like using one of the bigger sizes of Insectivore print from The Dybdahl Co as a centre point for a collection of bugs. The vintage look of this print looks great and provides contrast to the vibrant and detailed macrophotography of the Liljebergs selection.

Calming Blues: A Great Selection of Prints for the Bedroom

Blue is naturally a calming colour so a selection of blue prints can be great in your bedroom. Despite the wildly different styles of these collections, to me they represent a gentle, refreshing ocean of quiet peace, tied together by the colour blue, and as such make a great selection for the bedroom.

Water & Fishes: Great Prints for the Bathroom

We love a selection of fishes for the bathroom. A great simple place to start is a pair of the Dybdahl Co half fish prints - they’re quirky and unusual. Alternatively you can use the big fish head on its own, which is particularly striking. Add in a shoal of some of the small fish mini prints.

High Contrast: Black and White Prints to Grab Attention

Our eyes are drawn to high contrast images so black and white images can truly grab attention. A black and white or high contrast gallery wall can be a real statement. Pair these prints with other neutral tones to blend with the rest of your interior. We love throwing the tattooed man into the mix for a bit of cheeky contrast.

Gorgeous Greens to Make You Gooey: Plant Prints and More

Who isn’t obsessed with house plants at the moment? We know we are and of course when there isn’t any more room on the shelf and the floor for your interior jungle then it starts climbing the walls. We love the mega size of the Jungle print as a full-on back-drop to your green fingered interior but alternatively a selection of prints in smaller sizes also has a great mix and match effect. Get ready to get tropical! We love to mix this kind of green with some hot pinks for a real tropical feel.

Japanmania: Prints Inspired by the Far East

Japan is an endless source of design inspiration - it is a country which has fostered craftsmanship and valued art for years and as such has a rich history of beautiful decorative art, which has been the inspiration for many contemporary Western artists too.

Abstract Triptych: Our Favourite Trio of Abstract Prints

We’ve shown you a lot of combinations of prints that go well but contrast and therefore have a dynamic energy to them, this set of prints by the same artist has a calming effect with their simplicity.

Our Feathered Friends: Beautiful Bird Prints

The charm of this selection of prints is that they’re by all different artists with different styles but that they’re unified because of the theme - the perfect selection for the ornithologist in the family.
