Ah the summer months have arrived, the feeling of warm breezes floating through on a lazy, sunny afternoon and wandering morning walks are back. Oh how we love summer. Its time to fully pack away the big, fluffy blankets and immerse ourselves in summer colours and vibrant textures. We adore colour – from bright and vibrant to soft and muted, colour is a powerful tool in our home that can evoke emotion and bring up memories. With a focus on adding colours, vibrant to soft and textures tactile to smooth through the home, here are our top 5 tips to do so.

Tip No.1 Neutral Colours and Dreamy Textures

Tactile seems to be the word of the summer. We love a tactile vase, pot, plate – anything really! New in for summer, the Fig1 Seki vase adds gorgeous muted colour contrasts and stunning, organic texture to your home – coming in two sizes, we love the elegant look of this vase in both sizes. Adding texture can be as simple as collecting three vases together on a shelf and arranging with your favourite buds against a simple wall.

The Rice Way

As seen in our latest trip to Denmark, Rice DK are experts at adding wild, unrestrained colours and fabulous textures. They seem to hit the perfect balance of out there, unique colour and pattern which never feels too much or too little but just right. Pairing colours and patterns can be tricky but we stick to the trick of one pattern per colour palette – adding too many can feel overwhelming to look at but every patterned wall needs a textured, plain vase or pot and plant.

Tip No.2 The Bright’s and the Bolds

Bold and bright colours can really make a room pop. We love the addition of a vibrant pot or vase on an otherwise plain shelf – we’re particularly fond of coloured glass at the moment. The hues of light shining through the coloured glass stand out on a windowsill or shelf above all the background – especially when filled with beautiful summer flowers. Another addition we adore is the retro glass candle sticks from Bahne – the retro design and bright colours really add a stunning touch to otherwise empty shelves and add beautiful height when combined with our favourite Rice Twisty candles.

For the lovers of more muted, calming tones we adore the Mount Fuji print – calming Japanese artwork and deep blue hues really make this print a special addition to your home. Love a bit more colour in your life? We love the Orchids slim print from The Dybdahl Co. this large print is perfect for hallways and stairs and features beautiful pops of colour and pattern.

Tip No.5 Kitchen Colour and Table Texture

Talking about tableware, adding colour to your kitchen can feel as summery as summer itself. Combining vibrant colours and tactile textures in your kitchen can be an amazing way to inject some vibrancy and fun into your home. We adore the Rose and Tulipani colourful tableware, inexpensive and oozing fun, this vibrant Italian range seems fitting for a summer dinner party. For a more muted, neutral look, the Space tableware range from Bahne brings smooth and classy blue onto your table – perfectly combining with the Golden cutlery from House Doctor for a sophisticated, regal look.
