For us, home is where we go to unwind and relax, somewhere filled with our favourite beautiful things – a functional yet cosy space to invite friends over, get creative in your spare time or simply just to curl up in a mountain of pillows and soft blankets. Home, for me, has always been where I let my creativity run wild. Whether that be arranging my arrays of collected ornaments and trinkets in just the right way or creating a fortress of comfort and cosiness to curl up in after a long day there’s something extremely satisfying about creating the all important winter home style.

You may by now be thinking Rosie you’re a little obsessed with home decorating or you may be wondering how I create these clearly magical home arrays I’ve been waffling on about, so here are my top 5 tips on the all important winter decorating.

Tip 1 : Time to Get Fluffy – Soft Blankets and Fluffy Throws

The all important fluffy blanket (yes you can never have enough!) My fluffy muse at the moment are these new in blankets from Bronte and Moon. In luxurious mohair, these pastel coloured blankets are the creme de la creme of throws and let me tell you nothing can beat a good throw on a cold day.

Tip 2: Soft Lighting for Cosy Evenings

We already know lighting can make or break a cosy evening, maybe I’m a little dramatic but I don’t think so! For me it’s got to be lamps over overhead lighting any day – I have four lamps just in my bedroom but nothing makes me feel quite as cosy as getting into my pillow fortress with the lighting just right. A favourite of mine at the moment are the new wicker table lamps from Nkuku, in natural wicker they give off a simply gorgeous soft light – perfect for those cosy evenings in.

Tip 3: Cosy Home Scents

Last but certainly not least is one of my favourites. I’m a sucker for a scented candle – I just can’t resist! But this home scent just takes the biscuit, new in from Plum and Ashby, this orange and geranium diffuser is simply irresistible. Wonderfully nostalgic and reminiscent of summer holidays, this fresh and fruity scent feels cosy yet light and floral all wrapped up in a stunning bottle.

Tip 4: Soft Furnishings for Sofa Days

I’m absolutely living for the green theme at the moment, its a comforting colour – earthy and whole. Breaking up hard flooring is key for creating a welcoming living space and I adore a shag rug (anything to keep my toes warm!) But the star of the show for me has got to be the new in cushions from House Doctor, abstract shapes and soft greens – what’s not to love! Cushions and rugs are a fantastic way to break up larger areas and create an altogether more cosy feeling in your home – something you look forward to coming home to every evening.

Tip 5: Home Decor to Fall in Love with

My final tip is focused on the importance of home decor. I can spend hours rearranging my own home decor to get that perfect look, I love switching it up each season to get that look I can just fall in love with over and over again. For the winter season its got to be brushed golds and muted greens, for me this combo feels almost festive but without the thrills. A personal muse of mine at the moment is the Hurricane lantern from Nkuku, these lanterns add the perfect touch of cosy with a slight sparkle – magical right?!
