To us, a cup of tea is a very personal thing – if you’re a tea drinker you’ll know what we mean! If you aren’t then we think we’ve cracked the code to get everyone as excited as we are about tea. With an absolutely spiffing new range of teas from the fabulous Tea Makers of London, we simply can’t wait to show you how to make our favourites.

The essentials:

  • Your favourite tea – we recommend The Tea Makers of London!
  • A good tea strainer – we have used the Bahne Tea Travel mug.
  • Your favourite tea mug or travel mug.
  • Ice cubes and fresh fruit for additional scrummy flavour.

How to choose your tea.

Hmmm a question we often ponder ourselves – what tea do we fancy. From a simple English Breakfast to a fancy Chai of Madagascar, it feels almost impossible to decide. The weather is usually a good indicator for the kind of tea you’re craving. For colder weather, we like to choose a warming chai or a smoky Lapsang Souchong and in the Summer nothing beats a delicately floral Jasmine green tea, a delightful earl grey or simply an iced Roobis.

The tea leaves don’t lie.

So how do we create a perfect cup of tea? Start with the tea leaves, quality tea leaves are rolled, locking in the flavourful oils for a fuller, richer taste. Our teas of choice come from The Tea Makers of London, each tea is intoxicating to smell and even more so to taste.

The perfect ratio.

Each tea is different in ratio however a good rule to live by is 1 teaspoon (3g) of tea leaves to 200ml of boiling water for black teas and 85° for more delicate teas such as green tea . Brew time is dependent on the tea and can range from 2 – 5 minutes – although this can be changed depending on your personal tastes!

The best brewing utensils.

We often have an affinity to beautiful, shiny things and tea making is no exception to this. A personal favourite of ours is this stunning tea egg from Bloomingville, however if you’re simply brewing at home a tea strainer or simply a cafetiere will do the job.

Mouth watering Iced tea pairings for Summer drinking.

Wondering what to add to your brew? We suggest fresh fruit and lots of ice! For a refreshing Summer drink we like to add lemonade and fresh lemon slices or fresh mango to our green tea, poured over a tall glass of ice. If you like a little more spice try adding ginger ale and mint to your English breakfast tea with plenty of ice. To infuse a beautiful fruity flavour into your tea try adding sliced strawberries and lemons in while you’re brewing. Some of our favourite pairings include apricots and earl grey, cherries and strawberries with Lapsang Souchong and mango with green tea and jasmine.
