We’re always sad when Alfie, our resident student staff member, goes back to university but we’ve had a great summer with him – especially having the extra help carrying boxes up to the stock room! With Alfie, one of the BC (Before Cabot) team, back from university for a fleeting moment, I took the chance to interview him on his favourite products of the month. Interested in all that is arty and outdoorsy, Alfie’s love of being creative and of the outdoors can be seen throughout all of his top picks.
Mountain Atlas from The Dybdahl Co.
First up, Alfie chose the stunning mountain atlas print from the Dybdahl Co. Showing a range of mountainous terrain from volcanoes to snow capped peaks, its no wonder that this stunning print is a strong favourite for Alfie. Being big into climbing and outdoor activities, Alfie loves how this striking print really gives an impression of just how big mountains are – it almost feels like you could walk straight into them.

Sketch notebook from Monograph
Being a budding artist and silversmith, Alfie loves how these notebooks have the lie flat spine – perfect for technical drawings. Studying engineering at university, Alfie is constantly buried in a sketchbook – ever the creative. With a love of being in the kitchen, Alfie loves this unique fragrance – reminiscent of Sundays in the kitchen and cosy evenings. These unique candles, made in Cornwall smell incredible – we can’t get enough of them!

Serax Terres De Reves Coffee Cup in Rust and Dark Blue
Another of Alfie’s favourites is the ever so popular coffee cup from Serax. In a gorgeous dark blue with a rust coloured inside, these stunning coffee cups are perfect for lovers of a small coffee. Alfie loves the minimalist yet smart look of these almost miniature mugs – the perfect size for a morning shot of espresso with just a dash of milk.

Pistachio Curd from Nicolas Vahe
With Alfie’s love of being in the kitchen he’s always seeking out new ingredients and one of his favourite is the pistachio curd. Used in patisserie cooking, this gorgeous pistachio curd adds a wonderful sweet, almost addicting flavour to pastries. The smell of pistachio reminds me so strongly of summers away – mmmm.
