Description

Mansons Bristol Miscellany: Volume 1

Bristols early days, power and politics, business and trade, markets and fairs, transatlantic slave trade, law and order, public protest, Bristols mines plagues and public health and much moreTheBristol Miscellanyis Michael Mansons search for the soul of the city.

Accessibly written Mansons Bristol Miscellany contains an array of fascinating, enjoyable and sometimes shocking accounts of Bristols past. The book is extensively illustrated with some striking images.

Manson writes: Ive lived in Bristol for more than 40 years and Im still finding new corners, new streets, new communities even. Recently there has been a resurgence of interest in Bristols history. Id be delighted if theMiscellanyhelps readers to see their environment just that little bit more clearly and maybe embark on their own voyage of discovery. The aim is to rescue the past to give order to the present.

As the Czech writer Ivan Klima wrote: To know a city is to love a city. And to love a city hopefully means we will respect it and look after it.Bristol is a very special place. Lets keep it that way.
